PlayStation EGX Stand 2016

PlayStation's Eurogamer 2016 stand. This stand is simply massive, averaging around 50m squared, this is a show we've done for SONY 3 years running now. We have over 100 gaming points, a main stage, photo mechanics & photo ops, VR, retail, product and merch displays, character actors, tournaments, competitions... and the list goes on.

It's one of the biggest projects we undertake, managing a large creative, client services and staffing team. The show runs for 5 days and gets bigger and better every time we do it.
Main stage. We have MC's here driving people to different areas of the stand and encouraging them to sign up to our overriding competition mechanic - play any 5 games on the stand for a chance to win a Pro console bundle.
PlayStation Vr area, 20 booths with a pre-show booking system. We also let people queue to play when a random spot came open. As you can see, this was popular...
GT Sport racing pods.
Trying out R.I.G.S VR.
Batman VR. We had bat-ear headphones made :)
A photo mechanic for Last Guardian. This is the foot of Trico - your in-game giant bird-dog companion. We commissioned this piece from a prop designer, then used a proprietary iPad app to take the photo and upload it to social media.
Another photo mechanic in the VR section - this outputs a short VR clip which is then immediately available to share.
We ran live PlayStation Access events on stage which were broadcast live to Youtube and Twitch.
Free giveaways!
PlayStation FC area.
PlayStation VR Plinth & product display.
Due to the huge scale of this stand, the design process is slightly different than usual - we try to define the areas we need, how much space is required and then link them together around the main stage. We can't afford the detail we usually adhere to, and have to keep the design fairly fluid and receptive to change almost until the install.
The main walls being drawn up.
Artwork panel examples.
This panel shows an Amazon scan & buy graphic (to the right of the guy's face) which were added to every single game related panel. Liked the game you just played? Scan the image with your smartphone and the product is added to your Amazon basket. We had to house this feature within a graphic which would not be too intrusive, yet followed a theme throughout the stand so it would be instantly recognisable for users.
